Egypt’s New Administrative Capital of Egypt is a new high tech city designed for the future. It will have over 50,000 civil servants, with many moving into facilities in 2021. Future residents will exceed 6,000,000 in future years.
Egypt’s New Administrative Capital is located 75 kilometers east of Cairo, holding several projects worth around $300 billion. President Sisi launched the Digital Egypt platform Wednesday, July 6, 2022, to provide electronic services to all Egyptian people.
Egypt has opened its first electric light railway to link from Cairo and New Administrative Capital. This new high-tech city will be home to the new administrative and financial capital of Egypt, housing the main government departments and ministries and foreign embassies.
President Sisi also explained that the Egyptian state is digitizing to transform the country into a new republic; therefore, the cost will be high. The President witnessed the launch of the “Digital Egypt” platform and several projects via video conference.
President Sisi mentioned that the goal of celebrating “Digital Egypt” projects is to shed light on the importance of this project for the future of the country and its children, indicating the state’s readiness to bear the expenses of 100,000 IT students if they meet the requirements.
IT Training programs are being developed to train tens of thousands of students. He added that the state is ready to spend between EGP 10 to 12 billion to fully qualify those students.
This is truly a city of the future with electric trains and monorail. Only cashless payments will be accepted. Security of the entire capital city will be monitored electronically around the clock, 24/7. 15 square metres of green space are allocated per inhabitant, officials said.
What about Cairo? “We are not leaving Cairo, or Alexandria or Port Said or other provinces. We are moving forward with the old and the new together,” the president said. NAC will officially open the end of 2021. The Egyptian cabinet held its first preliminary meeting in the New Capital in December 2021.
